After earning a teaching degree in 1971 at Southwest Missouri State College , Delbert Scott taught history for four years in a parochial school in south Missouri. He then joined the family Hardware/furniture business In Lowry City, MO where he worked for 35 years.
He was elected as state representative for his district in 1985 and served until he was term limited in 2000. He was then elected to the Missouri Senate for eight years. After he left the senate he became the president of Kansas Christian College in Overland Park, Ks until his retirement in 2019.
Delbert has been married to his wife, Donna for over 54 years. They have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren and enjoy traveling, volunteering for their church and helping others.
