MCPSC continues to protect the public's interest and access to quality public schools, through charter schools. Charter schools are held to an accountability system consisting of three parts: 1) Parent Choice, 2) State Standards, and 3) Sponsors. Districts are held to state standards through MSIP. Charters are held accountable to state standards through a performance contract. Quality sponsors hold charter schools accountable, as well as protect access and school autonomy. The result is public school choice regardless of income, innovative public schools, and a reduction of poor performing public schools.

Testimony provided by Robbyn Wahby, Executive Director, Missouri Charter Public School Commission.
